BENCH GRINDERSDescriptions for bench grinders are based on two features: 1. The diameter of their grinding wheels, whether 5", 6", 8" or 10". Both wheels that come standard with the unit are the same diameter, but have different grits (medium/coarse). 2. The horsepower Rating: Grinders are direct drives from an induction type motor. The TRADESMAN Model #7065 with Dual Work Lights is a 6" unit with a 1/2 H .P. motor, while the TRADESMAN Model #8275 8" unit is powered by a 3/4 H. P. motor. Smaller diameter wheel Grinders use 1/3 or 1/4 H. P., while 10" Grinders are driven by a 1 H. P. motor. The main accessory used on a Grinder is a Wire Wheel. These allow for the quick removal of paint or rust without removing much of the main surface. Wire wheels or buffing wheels add additional functions to the use of a Grinder. They are used in place of one of the grinding wheels. A wire wheel must be the same size as the grinding wheel: 5", 6", or 8". An accessory stand is available for use on all grinders. The item number is #9945. All Grinders have pre-drilled holes for mounting to the #9945 stand or any work bench.
