In the January 2006 issue of American Woodworker magazine, author Dave Munkittrick presented a very informative article about cyclone dust collectors. Part of the article was devoted to a test of 6 cyclone collectors that were available at the time. Each product was tested in the same manner, under the same conditions.
The performance of each cyclone was recorded and then plotted on a graph to produce a performance curve for each collector. When all of the individual curves are placed on one graph it is easy to visualize how each one compares to the others.

Each cyclone is at its highest performance (CFM) when there is little or no static pressure (Resistance). As the static pressure increases, the performance of each cyclone decreases. Some collectors CFM decreases very rapidly as static pressure increases. The JDS Cyclone maintained a very high level of performance, even at very high levels of static pressure.
The results of this independent test clearly show that the 3 HP JDS Cyclone is the highest performing 3HP cyclone in the woodworking industry.
